Ethan and Alexis tied the knot at one of my absolute favorite places. Hopelands Gardens in Aiken, South Carolina brings so much character and charm. Not to mention dreamy landscapes, effortless garden walks, and stone pathways. When Alexis shared that their June wedding would take place at Hopelands Gardens I was elated.
Just about every type of weather possible showed up for Alexis and Ethan’s wedding day. The morning started with high temperatures and blazing sun, followed by overcast skies and clouds. As the ceremony approached, storm clouds began to gather. We all held our breath but somehow assumed the rain would hold off until after the ceremony.
The moment the wedding party started down the aisle was when the downpour began. And it wasn’t a magical mist that fell from the heavens. We are talking a literal downpour! And yet, somehow it made everything that much more amazing. Instead of ruining the day, the rain made spirits just a little bit brighter (and wetter). Guests scrambled for umbrellas, but others braved the elements and enjoyed the ceremony without cover.
Ethan and Alexis were just happy to be married! And to me, rain makes everything more magical.
As soon as the last of the wedding party exited the ceremony, the rain stopped. The timing could not have been more insane. And yet, everything was still amazing!
The reception took place at Ethan’s family’s home and was so lovely and perfect! The sun showed its face for a few short minutes before the rain returned. But that didn’t stop everyone from dancing the night away and having the time of their lives.
Ethan and Alexis, thank you for trusting me to capture your day! I was beyond honored to be a part of your wedding.
